There has been a confirmed shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy, California. Right now little is known about the shooting, but multiple people are confirmed to be at least injured.
What We Know About The Gilroy Garlic Festival Shooting
According to Reuters, 11 people “were down” after at least one shooter opened fire on the last day of the festival. The festival was being held outside and weapons were prohibited. A police spokesperson has said there were no casualties at this time.
Mixed reports are spreading on social media. Rumors have spread as many as 50 people have been shot, but there is currently no supporting evidence of that many victims. It has been reported one suspect is dead and one is still outstanding. No motive has been stated at this time.
A video tweeted out by “Big Seaz” appears to be the first clip circling the social media that during the actual shooting. Six shots can be heard in the clip before the man filming begins running.
Another video from Twitter user “CRM” also appears to have captured the sounds of the shooting.
A tweet from CRM claims to have heard maybe “10 maybe even 20 gunshots” coming from the music stage area on the north end.

Twitter user “niah” uploaded a video of people running from the festival. She can be heard asking “What’s going on? What’s going on?” as people are seen running. She then finds out what is happening and says, “They shooting. Who shoots up a garlic festival?”

In another video tweeted by Shawn Reynolds, people are seen running and you can hear police sirens arriving on the scene.
Reports have said an AK-47 magazine was located at the scene of the shooting from a police scanner. It is not clear yet if that information is accurate. This is still a developing story.
