Prichard Police Respond To A Call Of Shots Fired
It was initially reported that police in Prichard, Alabama were investigating a double homicide. According to WKRG, this information was confirmed by Lieutenant Robert Martin. Fields’ family were already claiming the incident was a murder-suicide.
Police responded to 2927 Bellmade Dr after receiving a call of shots fired. Officers on the scene almost immediately realized there were multiple gunshot victims. Both Johnson and Fields were found dead while Stabler was taken to USA Hospital for treatment for a gunshot wound to the chest. After speaking to several witnesses, police realized they were dealing with a murder-suicide.
On 10/3/2019 @ approximately 12:19 hrs, officers responded to 2927 Bellmeade Dr, in reference to shots fired in the area. Upon their arrival at this location, it was quickly observed that there were multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. A black male subject (Tyvontae Johnson) and a black female subject (Jasmine Fields) were both pronounced dead on the scene, while a third victim was transported to USA Hospital for treatment of a gunshot injury to the chest. Upon speaking with several witnesses, this incident appears to be Domestic related, and will probably be investigated as a “Murder/ Suicide”. We will also be seeking counseling through Mobile Child Advocacy Center (CAC) for the female victims (2) young children, who were inside the vehicle at the time this incident happened, and watched their mother get gunned down. The case is still ongoing.Lieutenant Robert Martin Via WKRG
Shemeka Stabler Is A Hero
Fields’ sister, Tajuana Fields, said Stabler is a hero. Stabler tried to stop Johnson after he began shooting at Fields. “She jumped in front and he shot her first before he chased my sister down and shot her down,” Tajuana told Fox 10. Stabler is expected to be okay. Fields’ two children were inside a vehicle as the incident occurred outside of the residence on Bellmade Dr.
This senseless act occurred just three days into National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Fields’ loved ones hope this tragedy can help others realize how dangerous domestic violence can be and that victims will take this as a warning to get away from their violent spouses.
I just want everybody to just think about domestic violence. if you know anybody that’s going through this, please try to get help for them.
we just hope that anybody in this situation, get out, get out and get help, please.Tajuana Fields Via Fox 10
Making the incident that much more heartbreaking are Fields’ two children that witnessed the incident. Tajuana said when asked how they were doing her niece cried and said, “My mom, my mom, he shot my mom and I loved her so much.” Tajuana’s nephew has been crying and sleeping. Prichard police say they are seeking counseling for Fields’ children through the Mobile Child Advocacy Center and Tajuana says she plans to take care of them.
A Go Fund Me was created to help with the funeral cost for Fields. The campaign has already raised $1,130 of the $10,000 goal. The Go Fund Me campaign description describes Fields as a “bubbly spirit, and was beautiful inside and out.”
Words cannot express the pain our family is going through right now. Our sister Jasmine Fields lost her life today, October 3, 2019 to domestic violence. She leaves behind two beautiful kids, whom witnessed this terrible tragedy. Jasmine Fields was loved by many. She had a bubbly spirit, and was beautiful, inside and out. Demetrius Myatt, a friend of Fields, told WKRG he had been texting with her just the day before. Myatt and Fields had been friends for several years. Sadly, Myatt says Fields is now the third young, black woman he knows that has died as a result of domestic violence.
