Video captured and posted to social media shows the moment a little girl was pulled out from under a subway at a Bronx subway station after her suicidal father jumped on the tracks.

What Happened

Police say the 45-year-old man grabbed his 5-year-old daughter before jumping in front of the southbound 4 train. Her father was killed but amazingly the young girl only sustained minor injuries. The young girl is expected to physically be okay.

In a video being shared on social media, the girl is seen crawling out from under the subway as two men are seen coming to her rescue. A crowd watches in shock, still trying to digest what exactly they just witnessed.

Witnesses said the train slowed down but was not able to come to a complete stop in time. There were no warnings of what the unsuspecting travelers were about to witness.

A tweet from the New York City Emergency Management Department confirmed the man’s death and informed travelers the 4 train had suspended 4 train service in both directions between Burnside and Woodlawn Avenues.

This is a tragedy and our thoughts are with the family members as well as with our train operator — this is a traumatic event for everyone involved.
