- Dan Hill went viral after making a post to his Facebook while locked inside the 24 Hour Fitness in Sandy, Utah
- Luckily for Hill, Sandy police arrived about a half-hour later to help him escape from his prison
- Oddly enough, almost exactly one year ago to the day Johnathan Santos found himself in the same predicament in Spring, Texas
On Monday morning, Dan Hill found himself in quite the predicament after he ended up locked inside the 24 Hour Fitness in Sandy, Utah. Hill posted the incident on Facebook and went viral for his involuntary lockdown.
Literally Locked Inside The 24 Hour Fitness
At 12:37 am, Hill uploaded three pictures to his Facebook from inside the 24 Hour Fitness. “I am literally locked inside 24 hour fitness right now,” the post read. Hill said he had called Sandy dispatch and they told him “they’d call me back.” Hill then called his wife and she suggested he “find a comfortable place to sleep.” The post has since been shared over 10,000 times.
Hill told KTVX, “I called dispatch and the guy pauses for like 10 seconds and says ‘You’re where?'” A trapped Hill responded, “I’m in 24 Hour Fitness, and there’s an alarm system here and I don’t want to get busted for breaking and entering.” Due to the potential for setting off the alarms, Hill said he was afraid to open the doors.
Free At Last
Luckily for Hill he was not held prisoner in the 24 Hour Fitness for long. At 12:56 am, Hill posted an update. In a picture uploaded to Facebook, Hill was standing with three Sandy police officers who are seen giving a thumbs up. The caption read, “Free at last! Free at last! Thanks to three nice cops I am free at last.”
20 Hour Fitness
Since his brief lockdown at 24 Hour Fitness, Hill has posted two more updates. One was to tell his son farewell as he prepares to leave for Chile in “two short weeks,” and another apologizing for any bad publicity his 24 Hour Fitness may have received for the accidental lockdown. In the post, Hill writes “I still love my 24 (even if it is now my 20).”
It turns out Hill is not the only person to be locked inside a 24 Hour Fitness. Almost exactly one year ago, Jonathan Santos found himself locked inside a 24 Hour Fitness in Spring, Texas. Santos said before leaving he saw an employee doing a final walkthrough in the locker room. Despite acknowledging Santos’ presence, the employee apparently left and locked him inside. Santos was locked in the facility for roughly 25 minutes before a representative from another one of the gym’s locations arrived to set him free.
